MUST GET!! : The author does an amazing job of telling a story that prioritizes friendship for all people (birds)- through the story of Manh and Morh and Chanh and Chakar we follow the ups and down of friendships. It takes a very complex situation and simplifies it for a younger audience. Stories like these need to be told and shared through those affected by it and it opens such an important dialogue between generations. I read it to me niece and she had so many questions after and wanted to know more about why Chanh and Manh couldn’t see each other anymore. It was a refreshing read. The story is written beautifully and it's simplified for the younger audience it's made for. Along with that the art is absolutely beautiful. The story of Chanh and Manh represents stories of many that had to relocate due to the partition. It's a great learning book! It is so important to educate children about our South Asian culture and our history and the creators of Dosti have done an excellent job of doing that with the partition of 1947.
